Multiple substitution in salesforce function

We have to use nested SUBSTITUTE() methods for multiple replacing of characters.

Code Format:

SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(FirstName," ", ""),"  ", ""),":","" )

In above code we are removing space, double space and colon.
